Yes, 2008 is half-over already. The days seem to go slowly on a daily basis, but before you know it the month is gone, then Spring is here, then Summer, now here we are in July.
So far, this year has proven to have a lot of changes for everyone. I have had some health issues as well as a job change. I am now working on the BRAC program. For those that are unaware of this program it is consolidating military bases around the country to help reduce the cost of operating the military. I am helping with the communication part of the projects. I started in June. This change came about because of the long daily commute to Sterling, VA from the Martinsburg area. I enjoyed the work once I arrived but the drive got the best of me as the weeks progressed. I just couldn’t handle the commute, not to mention the cost because of the rising gas prices. So I am working in Frederick MD, the interstate drive is a lot easier and it is also a little shorter. On the real estate front I have taken and passed the test to become a Real Estate Broker. This happened last year in the second quarter. I have also changed the agency to which I am associated with, I am now with CENTURY 21 Sterling Realty in Martinsburg. You can visit my Real Estate Website at www.garybuckland.com.
Donna is doing great and looking for more clients for her business. She does a good job of looking after and taking care of me, that is her main job (at least from my perspective). I probably couldn’t survive if it wasn’t for her. We are still in the process of re-doing our house in Forest Hill. We go down and work whenever we can. It is coming along slower than we are wanting and are hoping to have it complete before the end of the year.
Chris is still in Detroit and doing OK. Working too much but enjoying it. He has purchased his first new car, a Mini-Cooper. It gets great gas mileage and is a blast to drive. I am very impressed with the quality of this car. You can go to his website/blog to see or read more about his car. We will get to see Chris in about two weeks as he will be coming on vacation with Shane, Ginger and the kids and Donna & Me as we have rented a beach house at the Outer Banks in Kitty Hawk, NC. We are all excited about our vacation, the first we have had in about twenty years.
Shane, Ginger and the Kids are doing OK. Shane is still flying those big shots on their trips. Ginger is still taking care of the kids and doing other stuff. Speaking of the kids, Aiden is going to school every day and really enjoying it. He is making progress and growing into an awesome little fella. Addison is walking now and starting to say a lot of words. She is going to be a little talker when she does start. She is also going to be a little princess, so look out world.
We would like to congratulate Tammy, my step-daughter, on her recent promotion to the halls of power in the Department of Health and Human Services in Charleston. A long overdue change for the good. Best of Luck and “You go Girl”!!!!
We would also like to congratulate Bill on his recent retirement from Bell South er.. I mean AT&T. He finally retired on June 30th and is now enjoying the good life. I understand he will be playing with his four tractors he has in Forest Hill. Now we know why he has been collecting them all these years. Good Luck Bill.
The John Henry Days Festival is scheduled for next weekend in Talcott. Donna and I will be going down for the festivities beginning on Friday the 11th. Hopefully we will have some pictures to post on the site for all to see.
Everyone take care and hopefully the next posting won’t be as long coming as this one.
God Bless.
